Preventative Skin Care
As we get older, our skin begins to age with us and while this is natural and unavoidable, there are things we can do preventatively to slow the aging process. There are some qualities of aging that can be very hard to reverse, so that is why preventative care is so important. Lucky for you, there are a number of different treatments that you can start doing now to prepare yourself for a long life of healthy, youthful looking skin. And it is never too early to start!
Facial Treatments
Back in the day, the main treatment for aging was a surgical facelift. However, this is not the best option considering how invasive and costly it is, not to mention how painful it can be. Now, there is a treatment available called microcurrent therapy. Next week's blog post will be all about Microcurrent therapy, so be sure to check that out if you’re interested in learning more!
In short, microcurrent therapy is a natural, pain-free way to tighten and lift the face. It's a noninvasive treatment that helps even skin tone and speeds up the skin’s healing process. Microcurrent also stimulates the cellular activity of skin cells which boosts the production of collagen and helps our skin to reflect light instead of absorbing it.
LED light therapy is another effective, non-invasive treatment. Different colored LED lights contribute to different healing reactions within different layers of the skin. The combination of LED light therapy and microcurrent is also extremely effective. The LED helps to calm inflammatory skin and relax the muscles.
Microdermabrasion is another facial treatment that is good on its own as well as paired with other treatments like a microcurrent facial. This treatment helps soften fine lines and wrinkles, smooth textured skin, minimize the appearance of scarring, decrease the size of pores, and reduce hyperpigmentation.
Enzyme peels can also be incorporated into your routine, as they are gentle on the skin and help to stimulate cell growth and natural exfoliation.
What does a preventative skincare routine look like?
A preventative skincare regimen pertains to your individual skin type. Once you figure out if you have oily, dry, or combination skin, then a specific skincare regimen can be laid out for you. Some important ingredients to have in your routine for anti-aging are: retinoids, vitamin C, and niacinamide. Additional Tips
Preventative care is so important for healthy, youthful skin at all ages. There are also some additional things you can do to help your skin. You’ve heard it before, but we’re going to say it again, SPF is crucial. It protects your skin from the harsh rays of the sun. Diet is also important as well as staying away from toxins like cigarettes and drugs. By following these steps and introducing preventative care into your lifestyle, you can help maintain that youthful glow as you age.
